Vaccinations
· Register with a vet (make sure he is Rottweiler
friendly)
· Arrange vaccinations for a least one week after your baby has
arrived giving him or her chance to settle in before this traumatic
experience.
· Vaccinations are 10 & 12 Weeks. However some prefer to
give younger at 8 weeks ???
Feeding
· Make sure you have your Pedegree advanced formulae.
· Pre soaked and ready for use.
· You do not need to give additives.
· Make sure they always have access to fresh drinking water.
· On finishing his food and on awakening take him outside straight
away. This is when normal functions take place and will quickly house
train him.

Sleep
· Don’t rush out to buy a big bed. A cardboard box just
big enough will make him feel secure and he will cut his teeth on this.
· Leave him with an item of your clothing with your scent on
for the first few nights.
· A hot water bottle and a ticking alarm clock will help him
feel secure
· When sleeping let him be.
· Do not allow children to wake him from his sleep, the fastest
way to create a grumpy dog (Wouldn’t you become nasty too?).

Teething
· He will lose his baby teeth and his adult teeth will appear.
During this time he will want to nibble you and of course the teeth
are like needles.
Whilst it is good to teach your dog to mouth your hands safely to allow
you later to enable the removal of foreign object from the mouth, it
can also be painful at this stage.
When he is nibbling you, tell him sharply no! Then gently squeeze his
mouth onto his paw. He will soon get the message. (Every time I bite
my master it hurts my paw.)
This must be carried out with common sense
I do not condone cruelty for training, or for any other purpose.
They will soon learn the word NO! When spoken sharply as will they also
learn praise. Lots of Good Girl! / Boy & rewards with treats.

Travel
· Take your puppy out with you in the car as often as possible
to get use to travel, and avoid travel sickness.
Exercise and socialisation
· Whilst waiting for injections, please take your puppy out,
for socialization with people and very importantly children
· Be sensible, not to the local park were lots of dogs have been?
· It is however important to socialize your dog with other dogs
as soon as they have had their course of injections.
· Walking must be sensible building up gradually. No serious
walking till around 9 months.
Lead Control
· The Rottweiler does not require heavy chain leads and collars.
These in fact lack the strength of a normal collar and lead.
· Training and control are the strongest form of collar and lead!!!!
· Failing the above, as they get stronger I would recommend a’
Friendly leader’ (Not a Halti) this is ideal and is warn on the
head, the type used to lead goats. This leads from the front of the
mouth so if the dog pulls it ends up going backwards.
